Abstract

Accompanying the proliferation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), most schools are now equipped with computers connected to the Internet. Although this trend has stimulated growing interest in collaborative learning between schools, few studies have been conducted in this area. This study analyzes learning outcomes of Distance Collaborative Learning (DCL) at two schools in Korea and Japan. In the study, students used ICT tools, such as videoconferencing, forums, and email to link with other students in different countries. The DCL study yielded various positive outcomes, and at the same time, underlined the importance of identifying appropriate counterparts. In this paper, the authors will analyze learning outcomes which appear quite different from each other.
